How Planning Process Works

The NDIS planning process is designed to create a personalised plan that meets the needs of individuals with disabilities. The process involves the following steps:

1. Initial meeting
The first step is to meet with a planner or local area coordinator to discuss your needs and preferences. This meeting will help determine your eligibility for the NDIS and provide an opportunity to discuss the types of support and services you require.
2. Information gathering
The planner or local area coordinator will gather information about your current situation through interviews, questionnaires, and medical reports from doctors or other health professionals. They may also review any other relevant documents such as education records and employment history.
3. Goal Setting
The NDIS planning process is focused on achieving your goals. With your input, the planner or local area coordinator will identify your goals and objectives, and work with you to develop a plan to achieve them.
4. Support and service provision
The planner or local area coordinator will work with you to identify the support and services you need to achieve your goals. This may include assistive technology, home modifications, personal care, and therapy.
5. Plan development
Based on the information gathered, the goals identified, and the support and services needed, the planner or local area coordinator will develop a personalised plan that outlines the support and services you require. This plan will be reviewed and updated regularly to ensure it continues to meet your needs.
6. Plan approval
Once the plan has been developed, it will be submitted to the NDIS for approval. You will receive a copy of the plan, which outlines the funding available for each support and service.
7. Service provision
With your personalised plan in place, you can choose your service providers and manage your funding, giving you greater control over the support and services you receive.
